DC Semester Program Housing Agreement

  • The student’s signature on this agreement indicates that the student agrees to and accepts the following terms and conditions.

    • Housing costs (rent), as well as any program fees, are non-refundable. Students are required to pay the rental fees for the full stay (varies by program). No program fees or rent will be refunded upon any withdrawal from a program prior to the start, or early departure from the program (whether initiated by the student or W&M). Other tuition or fees would be refunded in accordance with W&M’s refund policy, available at: https://www.wm.edu/offices/financialoperations/sa/refunds/index.php
    • The student will abide by the regulations of William & Mary set forth in the current addition of the Student Handbook, the Residence Life Contract and Guide, as well as the provisions outlined in any Community Agreement established once in Washington.
    • The W&M Washington Center holds a lease with Turnkey to occupy apartments at the Meridian. Therefore, all students living at the Meridian are expected to abide by all Turnkey and the Meridian rules and regulations.
    • It is expressly understood that violation of policies in the Student Handbook by the student may result in penalties ranging from a warning to the student, dismissal from the housing at the Meridian, dismissal from any program, to permanent dismissal from the university.
    • In lieu of a housing damages deposit, any housing charges will be posted directly to a student’s account after move-out. The student (and roommate(s) where assigned) is responsible for damages to his/her room, as well as damage and/or loss to the furnishings and fixtures the university has provided. The student agrees to pay for the restoration of the property to its condition at the time of occupancy or for repairs or replacement(except normal wear and tear), unless the identity of others responsible for the damage or loss is established and proven by the student(s). Student(s) are responsible for any damage or loss to the premises caused by their guests. This responsibility extends until the student is officially checked out of the assigned space by a Community Advisor or W&M Washington Center staff member. Charges for damages, cleaning, replacement of furniture, etc. shall be divided by the number of students assigned to the room. If one or more roommates assume responsibility for damages, cleaning, replacement of furniture, etc., a written statement signed by the responsible party must be submitted by move-out.Charges will not be assessed to one roommate based solely on another roommate’s claim.
    • It is understood that the students are responsible for any damage or loss caused or non-routine cleaning or trash removal required to the common areas of the Meridian and their apartments – and their furnishings and equipment. Common areas of the Meridian include hallways, stairwells, recreation rooms, gyms, kitchens, study rooms, living rooms, laundry rooms, common bathrooms, lounges, lobbies, and the rooftop. Common areas of the apartment include the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms, and balconies. When damage occurs, the student(s) will be billed directly for the repairs. Turnkey and the W&M WashingtonCenter have the authority to assess and assign charges for these damages. Damages may also result inaction through the Code of Conduct. Those students who are responsible for vandalism or theft may be removed from housing and any program.
