DC Semester Program Mentor Agreement

DC Semester Program Mentor Agreement

  • The Mentorship Program matches DC Semester Program scholars with Washington-area alumni who are willing to occasionally take time during the semester to talk to mentees about their experiences in DC, their future careers, and professional development.

(Please note: It is not the mentor's role to help you find a job in their organization or personal network. The mentor is there to assist you in building a skill set necessary to pursue career opportunities.)

  • Spring 2021 Timeline
    • Orientation: You will receive your mentor assignment.
    • By September 10: You must have contacted your mentor to introduce yourself and to invite them to the lunch. If they cannot make the lunch, you must schedule a time to meet with them.
    • September 22: Mentorship Lunch in DC Center
    • October: Have a second meeting during the next month.
    • November: Have at least your third meeting and invite your mentor to our Farewell Reception.
    • December 8: Farewell Reception.
  • Student Commitment
    • Meet with your mentor at least three times in person (one can be the mentorship lunch).
    • Maintain email correspondence with your mentor throughout the semester. You should feel comfortable inviting your mentor to the Farewell Reception.
    • Email a thank you note after each meeting and handwrite one at the end of the semester (make sure to get their mailing address!).
    • Talk to Gabe if you have questions or concerns.
    • Have fun!!
